O. Lavrynenko is a researcher in the field of colloidal chemistry and modern materials science. Her scientific interests combine the improvement of existing and the development of new methods for the synthesis of metal oxide nanopowders and composites based on them, physicochemical studies of the obtained materials, and their adaptation for implementation in “green technologies” and biomedicine.
Leading researcher Olena Lavrynenko received her PhD in 2002 and her Dr. of Science in 2013 from the F.D. Ovcharenko Institute of Biocolloid Chemistry of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the specialty of colloidal chemistry (02.00.11). In 2008, she was awarded the title of Senior Researcher in the same specialty. In 2000–2008, O. Lavrynenko conducted research on colloidal-chemical mechanisms of neutralization of liquid waste from electroplating industries in the iron-carbon galvanic contact system, the results of which are summarized in the monograph “Phase Formation Processes in the Iron (St3) – Carbon (Coke) Galvanic Contact System in an Aquatic Environment” (2019). In 2009–2013, Dr. O. Lavrynenko developed an alternative method for the synthesis of nanoscale structures, which was called rotational corrosion dispersion (RCD). Since 2016, Dr. O. Lavrynenko has been working in the Department of Functional Materials Based on Rare Earth Elements of the I.M. Frantsevich Institute for Problems of Materials Science of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. She is engaged in the synthesis and research of complex oxide structures based on REE, as well as the synthesis, characterization, and study of photocatalytic properties of based on titanium dioxide based nanomaterials. She is the author of 70 articles and 4 patents.
